• <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING DATE: September 26, 2011 <br />TOPIC: <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 11 -97 Calling <br />Hearing on Proposed Assessment - <br />135E /CSAH 14 Interchange <br />ACTION REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote <br />BACKGROUND <br />On September 10, 2011 the City Council approved Resolution No. 11 -93 declaring the <br />cost to be assessed and ordering the preparation of the assessment role for the <br />135E /CSAH 14 Interchange improvement project. The total cost of the project is <br />$19,817,833. The City's share of the project is $4,307,861 of which $4,207,861 was <br />proposed to be assessed. <br />Accordingly the assessment role has been prepared and the costs of the project <br />• allocated to every assessable lot within the area affected. However, due to the multiple <br />classifications of property and subsequent assessment rate determinations, the amount <br />assessed is $4,206,010. This number is $1,851 dollars less than the amount included <br />in Resolution No. 11 -97. This amount ($1,851) will be funded from the City's municipal <br />state aid street fund. <br />The next step in the process is to call for the hearing on the proposed assessment. The <br />proposed hearing will be held at the October 24, 2011 City Council meeting. Notice of <br />the meeting will be published in the City's official newspaper (Quad Press). Mailed <br />notice will be provided to each parcel owner not less than two weeks prior to the <br />hearing. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 11 -97. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
