• AGENDA ITEM 3Bi STAFF ORIGINATOR: Julie Bartell, City Clerk DATE: December 12, 2011 TOPIC: Second Reading and Adoption of Ordinance No. 22 -11 Establishing the 2012 Fee Schedule VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote) INTRODUCTION In order to provide for a more efficient and timely method of reviewing and adjusting the various fees charged by the City, fees are consolidated into one schedule to be reviewed and adopted on an annual basis. BACKGROUND The City's current fee schedule has been circulated to department directors with a request to update or amend the schedule as appropriate for 2012. Ordinance No. 22 -11 (the proposed 2012 Fee Schedule) is attached. Recommended amendments to the ordinance are printed in red. The two changes proposed for 2012 are outlined below for your review: Investigation Fee for Liquor License Applications - In 2011 the council elected to change when an investigation fee is charged for the background investigation associated with liquor license applications. The fee is only charged for initial applications and not for renewals. Utility Fees — New language is being added to clarify that there are different sewer rates and stating the late penalty. This language does not add new charges but rather clarifies current practice. The council held a public hearing on the establishment of this fee schedule and approved first reading of the ordinance on November 28, 2011. The 2012 Fee Schedule Ordinance is now presented for council consideration of second reading and final adoption. RECOMMENDATION Approve second reading and adoption of Ordinance No. 22 -11, Establishing the 2012 Fee Schedule.
