• <br />• <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO 05 -04 <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE 2005 BLUE HERON DAYS <br />PARADE & FESTIVAL AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO WORK WITH THE <br />COMMUNITY FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS TO FACILITATE SAFETY OF THE EVENT <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Heron Days Community Festival Committee has approached the City <br />Council of Lino Lakes and requested approval to conduct the 2005 Blue Heron Days Parade & <br />Festival within the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Heron Days community festival includes a parade, which is a ceremonial <br />display of community involvement and pride and various businesses in the City have indicated a <br />willingness to support and sponsor such an event; and <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Heron Days community festival includes various other community <br />events such as a 5K run, a bike rodeo, a car show, a street dance and other activities; and <br />WHEREAS, most of these activities are free events for the families of Lino Lakes; and <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Heron Days Community Festival Committee has begun meeting for the <br />purpose of organizing this event for 2005, and has selected Friday and Saturday, August 19 -20, <br />2005 as the weekend for this festival, and is in the process submitting the necessary paperwork to <br />the City of Lino Lakes and the County of Anoka for these activities; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposal again calls for a parade which has a staging area in the SuperTarget <br />parking lot and travels northeasterly along Lake Drive, ending at James Street and which would <br />require a temporary road closure of a portion of Lake Drive, which is subject to approval by <br />Anoka County and its Board of Commissioners, and; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wants to ensure the safety and convenience of its residents and <br />ensure that proper safety, signage, and related issues are addressed to the satisfaction of Anoka <br />County; <br />WHEREAS, the festival organizers, in the spirit of responsible advance planning, have a need <br />to identify that the (Friday and Saturday) August 19 -20, 2005 weekend which has been selected <br />is a viable choice before proceeding; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes <br />hereby expresses support for the 2005 Blue Heron Days Parade & Festival and authorizes staff to <br />work with the festival committee members to facilitate this event, subject to approvals by the <br />Anoka County Highway Department, Parks Depai Intent, and the Anoka County Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this ,r ' j day of <br />Ann Blair, Cit plerk <br />-23- <br />
