Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: March 14, 2005 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 05 - 32, Approving Plans and Specifications and <br />Authorizing Advertisement for Bids, 2005 Sealcoat Project <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Each year the City maintains its streets by sealcoating. Sealcoating places a <br />thin layer of oil and rock on the street to enhance the surface and prolong the <br />useful life of the street. Candidate streets were selected based on <br />recommendations from the Pavement Management Report, Public Works input, <br />and feasibility of locations. This year, approximately 5 miles of streets will be <br />sealcoated at an estimated total project cost of $75,750.00. <br />City staff has prepared the plans and specifications for this work and is <br />requesting Council approval to advertise for bids. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 05 - 32, approving the plans and specifications and <br />authorizing advertisement for bids for the 2005 Sealcoat project. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution Number 05 - 32. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 05 - 32 be adopted. <br />
