Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: March 14, 2005 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 05 - 33, Approving Plans and Specifications and <br />Authorizing Advertisement for Bids, 2005 Overlay Project <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />To provide optimal maintenance of City streets to extend their useful life, City <br />Staff has incorporated an Overlay Project. Overlaying is a maintenance activity <br />that includes patching of the existing street, followed by the placement of a <br />bituminous wearing course over the entire surface. Candidate streets were <br />selected based on recommendations from the Pavement Management Report, <br />Public Works input, and feasibility of locations. An estimated total cost of <br />$174,000.00 is to be allocated for this year's project. <br />City staff has prepared the plans and specifications for this work and is <br />requesting Council approval to advertise for bids. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 05 - 33, approving the plans and specifications and <br />authorizing advertisement for bids for the 2005 Overlay Project. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution Number 05 - 33. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 05 - 33 be adopted. <br />
