Types of Lighting Applications: <br />1. Architectural: Accent lighting of architectural features is <br />encouraged to highlight building massing and rhythm and <br />enhance the pedestrian environment. Accent lighting shall not be <br />a source of glare, reflected glare, or excessive light, especially <br />when viewed from residences and streets, walkways or open <br />spaces. <br />2. Building Entries: Building entries with high activity levels shall <br />be illuminated. Appropriate treatments include: bathing entry <br />surfaces and doorways with light, allowing the buildings interior <br />light to glow through glazing, or using decorative lighting <br />fixtures to announce entries. <br />3. Service Areas: Building mounted down light fixtures, in <br />combination with pole fixtures, are preferred for the illumination <br />of building service areas. Such fixtures do not cause glare of <br />light leakage beyond the service areas. <br />4. Landscaped Frontages: Regular up lighting of walls or other <br />structures in Landscaped Frontages may occur throughout Apollo <br />Landing and must be coordinated to create a consistent and <br />dramatic effect. <br />5. Landscaped Walkways: Landscaped Walkways and other <br />pedestrian paths — unless adjacent to a building that provides <br />adequate lighting — shall be lit by pole or bollard type fixtures <br />that must be at least three (3) feet in height, to facilitate visibility <br />in snow banks / drifts, but not to exceed four (4) feet in height. <br />6. Seating Areas: Where a more intimate environment is desired, <br />light bollards and other forms of indirect illumination are <br />appropriate. <br />C. Existing and Proposed Conditions: This lighting plan is designed to use <br />lighting systems that will reduce light pollution and to promote nighttime <br />safety, utility, security and productivity. <br />1. Location and dimensions of all proposed structures and parking <br />areas can be identified on the proposed Site Plan. See Exhibit 1 <br />2. All lighting will be designed to conform with the following: <br />a. Intensity —No light source or combinations thereof which <br />cast light on a public street shall exceed one (1) foot candle <br />(meter reading) as measured from the right -of -way line of <br />said street.
