City Council <br />June 27, 2005 <br />• <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO.05 -82 <br />SUPPORTING ANOKA COUNTY FEDERAL FUNDING APPLICATION FOR THE <br />RICE CREEK CHAIN OF LAKES NORTH REGIONAL TRAIL IMPROVEMTNS <br />WHEREAS, the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve provides for open <br />space and recreational opportunities for the City of Lino Lakes, surrounding <br />communities and the metropolitan area as a whole; <br />WHEREAS, development of the regional trail network provides opportunities for citizens <br />to experience and enjoy the natural amenities offered by the Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes has previously constructed trail improvements to <br />integrate the city trail system with the regional trail system to provide multimodal <br />transportation opportunities for its citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Parks, Natural Open Space /Greenways and Trail System Plan <br />promotes the improvement of linear greenway /trail corridors radiating from the Regional <br />Park with the anticipation of connecting to regional trail improvements; and <br />• WHEREAS, the proposed regional trail improvements will connect to trail improvements <br />being constructed by the City as part of the City's mixed use, pedestrian oriented <br />downtown development (Legacy at Woods Edge) that was, in part, funded by the <br />Metropolitan Council in accordance with the Livable Communities Act. <br />WHEREAS, the proposed regional trail will provide connections to neighboring <br />communities and adjacent counties following Rice Creek watershed. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: <br />That the City of Lino Lakes strongly supports the request of Anoka County for Federal <br />Transportation Enhancement Funding for the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes North <br />Regional Trail Improvements. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 27th day of June, 2005 <br />Ann Blair /pity Clerk <br />• <br />Joh <br />eso , Mayor <br />
