• <br />• <br />AGENDA ITEM 3E <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jean Viger, Deputy Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: September 26, 2005 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution 05 -148, Authorizing Staff to Issue a <br />Special Event Permit to Miller's On Main for Benefit <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On Tuesday, September 6, 2005, Officer Shawn Silvera was killed in the line of duty. <br />Officer Silvera was assisting other officers in pursuit of a suspect fleeing in a stolen car. <br />Shawn left behind a wife, Jennifer, and two small children. <br />With the combined efforts of friends, family, co- workers and local businesses a memorial <br />benefit is being planned for , October 16, 2005 at Miller's On Main. This <br />benefit will include an outdooroer . <br />Chad Wagner, owner of Miller's on Main, has submitted a Special Event Permit <br />Application requesting Council to waive any fees. Staff is recommending several <br />conditions if approval of this event is granted. See Attached "Conditions of Approval" <br />The Lino Lakes Police Department has conducted a background investigation and found <br />no reason to deny the permit or stop the application process. <br />The Special Event Permit Application , proper insurance forms and background <br />investigation results are on file in the City Clerk's office for review. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Adopt Resolution 05 -148 Authorizing Staff to Issue a Special Event Permit to <br />Miller's on Main for the Officer Shawn Silvera Memorial Benefit. <br />2. Decline to Adopt Resolution 05 -148. <br />3. Return to staff for further review and/or action. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />1. Option #1 <br />1-11-1 T\ <br />
