Council Member Reinert introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: STATE OF MINNESOTA COUNTY OF ANOKA CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 05-208 THE REINERT RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADDITION OF A QUESTION TO THE CITY SURVEY REGARDING VIKING STADIUM FUNDING WHEREAS, Anoka County and the Minnesota Vikings are proposing to construct a sports stadium in the City of Blaine; and WHEREAS, Anoka County is proposing to financial fund a portion of the stadium with County -wide sales tax and other fees; and WHEREAS, The Board of Commissioners for Anoka County have proposed legislation to enact a County -wide sales tax, which would allow the Anoka County Board of Commissioners the option whether to hold a referendum to help fund the Viking stadium; and WHEREAS, The City of Lino Lakes has hired Decision Resources to conduct a professional • scientific survey of its residents to receive their opinions on various issues; and WHEREAS, A professionally conducted scientific survey of the residents of Lino Lakes will provide a more accurate determination of opinion from the public on this issue rather than our City Council acting outside of its role to speak for the citizens; NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lino Lakes City Council directs Decision Resources to develop and include a question in the Lino Lakes city survey that would ask the residents of Lino Lakes if they would like to have a referendum on the adoption of a County -wide sales tax to help fund the Viking stadium. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lino Lakes will forward the results of this survey to the Anoka County Board of Commissioners for their consideration and review. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lino Lakes will forward this survey to the Minnesota Legislature, House and Senate, for their consideration and review. ______94:0_ John Bergeson, Mayor
