•
•
AGENDA ITEM 6C
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala
CITY COUNCIL
MEETING DATE: January 23, 2006
TOPIC:
VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5
BACKGROUND:
Consideration of Resolution No. 06 -10
Requesting CSAH 23 (Lake Drive) Speed
Study
Mn /DOT recently completed a speed zone study of the Lake Drive (CSAH 23)
corridor and authorized proposed speed limit modifications along this corridor.
The speed limit authorization form sent by Mn /DOT on October 26, 2004
approved a speed limit of 45 mph beginning at a point approximately 100 feet
south of the intersection with Marshan Lane. South of this point, the authorized
speed limit is 55 mph.
Based on proposed improvements on CSAH 23, staff is requesting a change in
the termini of the speed limit transition point. We believe that the appropriate
point of transition from 55 mph to 45 mph is approximately 700 feet south of
Marshan Lane. We are, therefore, asking that Anoka County request a speed
zone study to be completed by Mn /DOT on CSAH 23, taking into account the
proposed improvements on this roadway.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 06 -10.
ATTACHMENTS
1.
