• <br />• <br />• <br />Council Member Qr,A-15 o ✓t introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 06 -65 <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ABSENTEE BALLOT BOARD <br />IN THE CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes receives hundreds of absentee ballots each <br />election; and <br />WHEREAS, on Election Day the election judges must take time to accept or <br />reject the ballots according to the criteria set forth by the State of Minnesota Election <br />Laws; and <br />WHEREAS, processing absentee ballots prior to election day will ease the <br />responsibility of the election judges on election day and reduce their time spent at the <br />polling place at the close of the polls; and <br />WHEREAS, establishing an Absentee Ballot Board is an excellent way to <br />improve the processing of absentee ballots with less chance for error; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County is willing to aid in facilitating the Absentee Ballot <br />Board for the State Elections which means more experienced workers will supervise the <br />accepting or rejecting of the absentee ballots; and <br />WHEREAS, in discussions with Anoka County Elections officials, it has been <br />agreed that the City's Election Liaison and/or designees will be the only staff needed for <br />the processing of the absentee ballots; and <br />WHEREAS, during local elections the City will be responsible for administering <br />the board which will be made up of election judges and/or city staff of different political <br />parties serving as election judges; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County needs 100% cooperation from each <br />city /township /school board for the Absentee Ballot Board process to be consistent and <br />successful. <br />-48a- <br />
