Council Member Reinert <br />adoption: <br />introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 06-107 <br />AUTHORIZING THE AUTOMARK <br />IN ALL VOTING PRECINCTS <br />WHEREAS, the federal government passed the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in <br />2002 that requires the voting method in every polling place to include a voting system <br />that is accessible for individuals with disabilities in a manner that provides the same <br />opportunity for access and participation and to vote privately and independently; and <br />WHEREAS, one voting system, the ES &S Automark has been identified and certified by <br />the Minnesota Secretary of State's office to meet the requirements of the Help America <br />Vote Act; and <br />WHEREAS, The ES &S Automark will be used in addition to our existing optical scan <br />voting system; and <br />WHEREAS, federal grant funds were available to cover the capital purchase of the <br />Automark and will not require additional funds in 2006 for precincts established prior to <br />2004. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lino <br />Lakes, Anoka County, State of Minnesota hereby authorizes the use of the ES &S <br />Automark in each polling place for elections held after this date <br />did AL <br />e Bartell Cit erk <br />Jeff O'Donnell, Acting Mayor <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 26th day of June, 2006. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council <br />Member Carlson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in <br />favor thereof: <br />Reinert, Carlson, Stoltz, O'Donnell <br />The following voted against same: <br />• Whereupon resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />
