Council Member Reinert adoption: introduced the following resolution and moved its CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 06-107 AUTHORIZING THE AUTOMARK IN ALL VOTING PRECINCTS WHEREAS, the federal government passed the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in 2002 that requires the voting method in every polling place to include a voting system that is accessible for individuals with disabilities in a manner that provides the same opportunity for access and participation and to vote privately and independently; and WHEREAS, one voting system, the ES &S Automark has been identified and certified by the Minnesota Secretary of State's office to meet the requirements of the Help America Vote Act; and WHEREAS, The ES &S Automark will be used in addition to our existing optical scan voting system; and WHEREAS, federal grant funds were available to cover the capital purchase of the Automark and will not require additional funds in 2006 for precincts established prior to 2004. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes, Anoka County, State of Minnesota hereby authorizes the use of the ES &S Automark in each polling place for elections held after this date did AL e Bartell Cit erk Jeff O'Donnell, Acting Mayor Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 26th day of June, 2006. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member Carlson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Reinert, Carlson, Stoltz, O'Donnell The following voted against same: • Whereupon resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
