• Council Member Reinerrntroduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />• <br />• <br />RESOLUTION No. 06 -133 <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTNG LOCAL ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FUNDING <br />APPLICATION SUBMITTAL <br />WHEREAS, the State Legislature has approved funds for the Routes of Regional Significance <br />Account and the CSAH 23 (Lake Drive) Interchange Reconstruction Project is eligible to receive <br />such grant funding, and <br />WHEREAS, Lake Drive in the City of Lino Lakes, Minnesota is Anoka County State Aid <br />Highway 23 (CSAH 23), a route on the National Highway System (NHS); and <br />WHEREAS, the CSAH 23 corridor has an interchange access to Interstate 35W (I -35W), a route <br />on the National Highway System (NHS); and <br />WHEREAS, the CSAH 23/I -35W interchange is currently experiencing growing congestion and <br />safety problems <br />WHEREAS, improvement of the interchange will remove the existing two -lane bottleneck at the <br />bridge over I -35W; correct a dangerous situation with offset on -off ramps at the south end of the <br />bridge; allow for continuous and safe bike and pedestrian trails across the bridge; and eliminate <br />unsafe access points along CSAH 23; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes in partnership with the County of Anoka and Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation have completed the necessary environmental documentation and <br />preliminary design of the improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, this project will protect and enhance Interstate mobility, and enhance safety on both <br />I -35W and CSAH 23 <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Lino Lakes endorses the application for <br />State Funds from the Mn /DOT State Aid for Local Transportation Division and fully supports <br />the construction of said project. <br />Joh .
