Council Member stol *.7 introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 06 - 206 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION FROM TARGET FOR SUPPLIES ASSOCIATED WITH YOUTH IN NEED GRANT WHEREAS, Target is aware that the Lino Lakes Police Department operates under the Community Oriented Policing Philosophy. As part of this philosophy, the department continually looks for ways to connect with the community and strengthen the partnership between the police and community. The Lino Lakes Police Department would like to reach youth in need in our community, specifically youth who are either victims of family violence or witness violence in their homes, and runaway youth; and WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, Target supports the efforts of strengthening our community and donated digital video equipment that will be beneficial in identifying youth caught in the cycle of family violence and help them get the services they need. The digital recorders will be used for interviewing victims involved in family violence situations. These digital recordings would assist the police department in seeking the appropriate help for needy youth and their families. This same concept will be used as a means of obtaining a better understanding of why youth run and what we can do as a community to reduce the likelihood of a reoccurring event. The ultimate goal will be the prevention of family violence in our community; and Target has also donated $1,900 to the city in their support of this outreach program in this community; and the monies will be appropriated to the General Fund in the following manner: Increase Revenue — Contributions 101 - 3720 -000 $1,900.00 Increase Police Expenditure (101- 420 - 4214 -000 Crime Prevention) $1,900.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Lino Lakes City Council members, do hereby accept the donation of $1,900.00 and digital e• ipment and wishes to express its gratitude to Target for the donation. /L` Joh 'Ber• s•', Mayor Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 11th day of December, 2006.
