Council Member Stoesz introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 12 -08 <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LOCAL ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br />FUNDING APPLICATION SUBMITTAL <br />WHEREAS, the State Legislature has approved funds for the Routes of Regional <br />Significance Account and the CSAH 34 (Birch Street) and Ware Road Traffic Signal <br />Improvement Project is eligible to receive such grant funding; and <br />WHEREAS, Birch Street in the City of Lino Lakes, Minnesota is Anoka County State <br />Aid Highway 34 (CSAH 34) and is a critical component of the City and County transportation <br />system; and <br />WHEREAS, Birch Street has experienced increased traffic volumes due to a growing <br />population; and <br />WHEREAS, Ware Road is a Municipal State Aid street that intersects Birch Street and <br />serves a significant residential and commercial area of the city; and <br />WHEREAS, the intersection of Ware Road and Birch Street experiences significant <br />backups, growing congestion and safety problems for motorists and pedestrians; and <br />WHEREAS, installation of traffic signals and vehicle and pedestrian improvements will <br />improve traffic flow and safety; and <br />WHEREAS, The City of Lino Lakes in partnership with Anoka County has completed all <br />documentation and preliminary design of the improvements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: The City of Lino Lakes endorses the application for State <br />Funds from the MN /DOT State Aid for Local Transportation Division and fully supports the <br />construction of said project. <br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this ` day o Jas 012. <br />Juli. e Bartell, City 1 Jerk <br />Jeff R- n , Mayor <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member <br />Roeser <br />
