• <br />• <br />• <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />INTRODUCTION <br />AGENDA ITEM 1D <br />Jean Viger, Deputy Clerk <br />April 23, 2012 <br />Resolution No. 12 -34, Amending <br />Resolution 12 -23, Reestablishing Precincts and <br />Polling Places <br />Simple Majority (3/5 Vote) <br />City governments must establish or reestablish all precincts after state redistricting. <br />Reestablishing precincts is a routine process of verifying that existing precinct boundaries <br />meet legal requirements and then reconfirming those boundaries. <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the March 12, 2012 City Council Meeting, the City Council approved Resolution 12- <br />23, reestablishing precincts and polling places as required by State Statute. However, the <br />boundaries for Precinct 3, Precinct 6 and Precinct 7 were incorrectly stated. The <br />boundaries were redrawn in 2008. Attached to this agenda item is Resolution 12 -34, <br />amending Resolution 12 -23 to correct those precinct boundary descriptions . <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve Resolution No. 12 -34, amending Resolution 12 -23 to correct precinct <br />boundaries for Precincts 3, 6 and 7. <br />
