CITY COUNCIL • AGENDA ITEM 3B STAFF ORIGINATOR: MEETING DATE: TOPIC VOTE REQUIRED: INTRODUCTION Julie Bartell, City Clerk January 28, 2013 Consider Resolution 13 -16, Approving On -Sale Brewer Taproom and Off -Sale Growler Intoxicating Liquor License for Hammerheart, LLC. 3/5 Hammerheart, LLC is in the process of opening a new brewery at 7785 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes. As part of their brewery operations, the brewery owners would like to offer their product for on -sale in a taproom and off sale as growlers. Therefore they have submitted an application to the city requesting the On -Sale Brewer Taproom and Off -Sale Growler Intoxicating Liquor License. BACKGROUND The Lino Lakes Police Department has conducted the required background investigation on the members of the corporation and reports no information that would prevent issuance of the license. The license application has been reviewed by city staff. The approval of the license is contingent on Hammerheart, LLC having all necessary paperwork completed with the city following all city ordinances and state building codes. In accordance with the Lino Lakes Code of Ordinances, Section 701 relating to Liquor Licensing, the application requires approval by the City Council. The code also requires that opportunity shall be given to any person to be heard for or against the granting of the license. A representative of Hammerheart, LLC will be present at the council meeting. If local approval is granted, the application for On -Sale Brewer Taproom and Off -Sale Growler Intoxicating Liquor License will be forwarded to the Minnesota Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division for review and the applicant is aware that approval is subject to all the provisions and conditions of the laws of the city, state and federal government. RECOMMENDATION Approve Resolution No. 13 -16, Approving On -Sale Brewer Taproom and Off -Sale Growler Intoxicating Liquor License for Hammerheart, LLC. • • •
