Wedel, City Engineer
MEETING DATE: September 9, 2013
TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 13 -99, Accepting Quotes and Awarding a
Contract for the 2013 Surface Water Management Project
VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required
BACKGROUND
As part of the annual budget, the City Council approved $125,000 for surface water improvement
projects in 2013. The City is required to make repairs and maintain our existing storm water
infrastructure per our MS4 permit with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. In 2012, the City
replaced a number of smaller culverts, cleaned out ditches and ponds, and replaced several storm
sewer structures. In all, work was done in nine different areas throughout the City. This year we
have included three high priority areas that need repairs in the same general area of the City and
combined them into one project.
The proposed project areas are shown on the attached map. The three different locations in this
year's project include work such as culvert replacement and cleaning, the addition of catch basins
and storm sewer in low areas that currently pond water, and sediment removal from existing
ditches. Plans were prepared and sent out to contractors for quotes. The City received three quotes
and they are as follows:
Contractor
C.W.
