Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 26, 2007 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 07 - 31, Approving Plans and Specifications and <br />Authorizing Advertisement for Bids, 2007 Sealcoat Project <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />• In accordance with the Pavement Management Program, City staff has selected <br />streets to be sealcoated in 2007. Candidate streets were selected based on <br />recommendations from the Pavement Management Report, Public Works input, <br />and feasibility of locations. Sealcoating places a thin layer of oil and rock on the <br />street to enhance the surface and prolong the useful life of the street. This year, <br />approximately 7 miles of streets will be sealcoated at an estimated total project <br />cost of $148,202.00. <br />• <br />City staff has prepared the plans and specifications for this work and is <br />requesting Council approval to advertise for bids. <br />The schedule for this project is as follows: <br />Open Bids <br />City Council Awards Contract <br />Construction Begins <br />March 28, 2007 <br />April 9, 2007 <br />June, 2007 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the adoption of Resolution No. 07 - 31, Approving Plans and <br />Specifications and Authorizing Advertisement for Bids, 2007 Sealcoat Project. <br />
