July 9, 1984 <br />Mr. Kulaszewicz asked what had been allowed for the League of Cities <br />Conference in the budget. Mr. Schumacher said $1,000.00 had been <br />budgeted. Mr. Marier said the Council shodld take a look at the <br />conferences and see what the City is really paying and what the City <br />is getting out of it. <br />255 <br />Mr. Kulaszewicz asked if the maintenance agreement for calculators <br />was for one year. Mr. Schumacher said it was for all calculators <br />for one year. Mayor Benson asked about the firemens' suit for the <br />Fire Marshall, Mark Frieden. Mr. Schumacher explained that the Fire <br />Marshall was not allowed at the scene of a fire by the state fire <br />marshall without protective gear. Mr. Marier asked why overshoes <br />were purchased. Mr. Volk explained these are used by the employees <br />when working on holding ponds and ditches. Mrs. Anderson explained <br />this was purchased from the budgeted clothing allowance. Mayor Benson <br />asked why the boxscraper was purchased equally from the Park and Public <br />Works Department, would it not be used more in the Public Works Depart- <br />ment? Mr. Volk explained it is used almost equally by both departments. <br />Mayor Benson asked what vehicles were involved in the purchase of parts <br />from CATCO and Boyer Ford Trucks. Mr. Volk explained this was major <br />brake replacement on three trucks. Two of the trucks have over 100,000 <br />miles without any brake repair. <br />Mr. Kulaszewicz moved to approve the disbursements of July 9, 1984. <br />Mr. Marier seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />OPEN MIKE <br />I Mrs. Susan Litchy was scheduled to appear, but had called and said she <br />was unable to attend. There was no one else to appear at this time. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - REZONE REQUEST - LARRY GRUBBS <br />Mayor Benson opened the public hearing at 7:51 P.M. and Mr. Kluegel de- <br />scribed the parcel to be rezoned and explained the reason for this <br />request to rezone from NB (Neighborhood Business) to GB (General Business) <br />is so Mr. Grubbs can expand his business. The notice for rezone has <br />been published in the legal newspaper and the adjoining landowners have <br />been notified. Mr. Kluegel noted that the rezone includes Mr. Herbert <br />Noren's one -acre parcel adjacent to Mr. Grubb's property. The total <br />parcel to be rezoned is approximately two and one -half acres. The Plan- <br />ning and Zoning Board and the City Planner had recommended approval of <br />Mr. Grubbs parcel only. The Council had requested the Public Hearing <br />for the rezone of both Mr. Noren's and Mr. Grubb's property. <br />Mr. Reinert asked Mr. Hawkins if the Council could rezone Mr. Noren's <br />property without his request for a rezone. Mr. Hawkins said the Council <br />could rezone any property after proper notification of the property <br />owner and publication in the legal newspapers. The Clerk told the <br />Council the property owner had been notified and the legal notice of <br />intent to rezone included Mr. Noren's property. <br />I Mr. Marier moved to close the Public Hearing.
