1
1
7 289
as serve an additional support for Lino's tax base.
Due to the rapid growth our City is experiencing at present, a compre-
hensive plan task force has been established. The task force will
be meeting monthly through September to update our comprehensive plan
and bring it more in line with what the City needs in order to bring
about' controlled and orderly growth.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
In conjunction with the rise in single family homes, the City's
Economic Development Committee has been busy trying to attract the
businesses needed to supply the services demanded by these new resi-
dents. In addition to providing services, these new businesses
would increase our tax base thereby relieving homeowners of a portion
of their tax burden.
The Economic Development Committee is made up of members of the
community interested in the commercial growth of the City. The com-
mittee's responsibility is to serve as go between for developers and
the Council. The committee is presently working on a development
package that will aid contractors and developers with pertinent infor-
mation concerning the City.
The committee is working with programs from Anoka County Services and
other groups to make our commercial and industrial areas more desir-
able for potential developers. Within the last two months the committee
members and staff have met with an architectural firm, an engineering/
marketing firm in an attempt to obtain a shopping center for Lino
Lakes.
