CITY OF LINO LAKES POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Deputy Public Safety Director DEPARTMENT: Public Safety DIVISION: Fire Services SUPERVISOR: Public Safety Director STATUS: Full-time/Non-Union/Exempt PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION To plan, direct, manage, and evaluate Fire Division operations, ensuring that professional fire suppression, inspection services, and fire protection are provided throughout the community and citizens are regularly engaged at the neighborhood level through a wide variety of fire prevention and education initiatives. This position is a member of the public safety senior management team. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Collaborate with the public safety senior management team on cross training, non -police incident activities, and emergency management plans for the City of Lino Lakes. 2. Manage, direct, and evaluate daily operations of the Fire Services Division in a manner consistent with professional standards, department policies, and the public safety action plan. 3. Develop an effective Fire Division through continuous improvement strategies. This includes analyses of operations, decisions, or recommendations related to Fire Division policies and procedures. 4. Responsible for the development, motivation, and supervision of all Fire Division personnel. 5. Work with department staff to prepare annual budgets, project budgets, and capital improvement programs; control expenditures within approved limits; ensure the maintenance of required records; prepare regular and special reports as required. 6. Keep the Public Safety Director informed of fire activities and any problems on an ongoing basis. 7. Ensure effective coordination with Police Division and other City departments. 8. Oversee recruitment, selection, orientation, advancement, and evaluation of fire staff to ensure they are effective and successful. 1
