• <br />• <br />The outdoor recreational habits in the metropolitan area have been growing steadily. <br />From 1995 to 2005, recreational visits to Anoka County regional parks and trails <br />increased by 60 %. <br />According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources 2004 Outdoor <br />Recreation Participation Survey of Minnesotans, nearly 82% indicated that outdoor <br />recreation is "very important" or "moderately important" in their lives. Popular trail <br />related activities are walking, hiking, biking, running, jogging or inline skating. <br />With the population growth expected and the increase in recreational visits to regional <br />parks and trails, the demand for additional facilities will only increase. <br />VI. DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT <br />The intent of the corridor is to provide a 10` wide bituminous surfaced trail for use by <br />pedestrians, bicyclists, inline skaters, etc., as we as, to provide connections to other <br />existing and proposed region sand local parks nd Trails. <br />The trail is proposed to be an entirely <br />conditions and right of way restrictions, a s <br />adjacent to the road curb, but will rem <br />A.
