COUNCIL MINUTES March 24, 2014 <br />DRAFT <br />49 <br />50 <br />51 Resolution No. 14 -29, Extending Time for Submittal <br />52 of Planned Unit Development Final Plan/Final Plat, for <br />53 Century Farms North 6th Addition Approved <br />54 <br />55 FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />56 <br />57 There was no report from the Finance Department. <br />58 <br />59 ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />60 <br />61 There was no report from the Administration Department. <br />62 <br />63 PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />64 <br />65 4A) Resolution No. 14 -30, Accepting a donation of $5,000 from Eagle Brook Church, for the <br />66 purchase of computer equipment for the Police Department — Public Safety Director Swenson <br />67 explained that Eagle Brook Church has generously donated these funds and the department would like <br />68 to utilize the donated funds to purchase laptop computers that will continue the department's upgrade <br />69 to equipment that increases security, efficiency and compliance with the public safety data system. <br />70 <br />71 Council Member Kusterman moved to approve Resolution No. 14 -30 as presented. Council Member <br />72 Roeser seconded the motion. Motion carried on a unanimous voice vote. <br />73 <br />74 Council Member Rafferty asked that the council's appreciation be conveyed to Eagle Brook Church. <br />75 <br />76 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />77 <br />78 There was no report from the Public Services Department. <br />79 <br />80 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />81 <br />82 6A) Second Reading of Ordinance No. 02 -14, Rezone Property from R, Rural, to PUD- <br />83 Planning Unit Development for NorthPointe — City Planner Larsen noted that this housing <br />84 development proposal was reviewed by the council at their last meeting, when the ordinance received <br />85 approval of its first reading. It is an approximate 300 -unit residential development with a multi <br />86 family senior complex. A rezoning is required to facilitate the plans. <br />87 <br />88 Mayor Reinert noted that this is a medium density development and while he recognizes that this city <br />89 prefers low density with big yards, the city is held to having development at certain density by the <br />90 Metropolitan Council. This development is acceptable to him because it is at the lowest end of the <br />91 scale (for medium density) and that is mainly because it includes a higher density senior building that <br />92 allows the single family homes sites more space. <br />93 <br />94 Council Member Rafferty moved to waive full reading of the ordinance. Council Member Stoesz <br />95 seconded the motion. Motion carried on a unanimous voice vote. <br />96 <br />2 <br />
