018 <br />FINANCE <br />Once again the City has strengthened itself in the area of <br />financial stability. A goal of the City Council has been to be <br />less reliant of the volitol state aids system. To that extent, <br />the City over the past few years has set aside dollars in <br />an effort to have sufficient funds available for general <br />service operations if severe cuts were made by the state. <br />To date, the reserve in the general fund has in excess of <br />$350,000.00 with an additional 10% budgeted for 1987. <br />Some new programs and increased services included in <br />the 1987 budget are: <br />1. Remodeling of the new fire hall. <br />2. Implementing first year of the Surface Water Management <br />Plan. <br />3. Installing Phase I of the emergency service siren <br />program. <br />4. Purchase of a four -wheel drive emergency rescue <br />vehicle. <br />5. Adding one additional patrol officer to the existing <br />seven -man force. <br />6. $200,000.00 in seal coating and overlaying of City <br />roads. <br />One of the City's largest losses in revenues was that <br />of Federal Revenue Sharing.
