1 <br />1 <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 25, 1988 <br />A work session of the Lino Lakes City Council with the <br />Economic Development Committee was called to order on <br />January 25, 1988 at 6:10 P.M. by Mayor Benson. Council <br />Members present: Marier, Bisel, Bohjanen, Reinert. <br />Economic Development. Committee members present: Gary Uhde, <br />Warren Tester and John Bergeson. Mr. Schumacher, City <br />Administrator and Clerk- Treasurer, Marilyn Anderson were <br />also present. <br />Mr. Schumacher explained the purpose of this work session is <br />to update the City Council as to what the Economic <br />Development Committee has accomplished, where it plans to go <br />in the near future, and give the Council an opportunity to <br />ask questions and interact with the Economic Development <br />Committee. <br />Mr. Schumacher continued to explain that the Committee has <br />developed a plan to follow and has authorized a consultant <br />to assist in this process. The Committee will deal with the <br />issue of marketing after the plan, the document and the <br />procedures are all put together. The Committee expects <br />everything to be completed and to the Council by March. <br />Mr. Schumacher introduced Mr. Pat Pelstring of Business <br />Development Advisors and two of his associates. Mr. <br />Pelstring explained the background of his business and his <br />background as well as his two associates background. He <br />explained that his firm can assist the Economic Development <br />Committee in providing comprehensive financial and <br />management services to businesses interested in locating in <br />Lino Lakes. A sample video was shown to the Council as a <br />means of further explaining what tools are available in <br />their services. <br />Mr. Pelstring explained their services have been well <br />received in a number of communities including Vadnais <br />Heights and Oakdale. He explained how they target companies <br />for location in a particular community and explained that <br />they offer a variety of programs depending upon the needs of <br />that city. He also gave a brief review of their track <br />record. <br />After further discussion Mr. Schumacher told the Council <br />that the Economic Development Committee will keep the <br />Council updated on their progress and the Council should <br />expect the next report to be in March. <br />t <br />
