1 <br />1 <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING FEBRUARY 17, 1988 <br />Mayor Benson opened the Special Meeting of the Lino Lakes <br />City Council at 6:04 P.M., Wednesday, February 17, 1988. <br />Council Members present: Bohjanen, Reinert. Mr. Bisel was <br />out of town and could not be reached. <br />Mayor Benson told the Council that Council Member Donald R. <br />Marier had passed away early Tuesday, February 16, 1988 and <br />the purpose of this Special Meeting was to discuss filling <br />the vacancy on the Council. The Council has the <br />responsibility under the City Charter and State Statutes to <br />set an election date within ninety (90) days of the <br />vancancy. In addition the Clerk must give a sixty (60) <br />published notice of the election. Mayor Benson noted that <br />an attempt had been made to reach Mr. Bisel and he felt the <br />Council should proceed with expediency to set the election <br />so that the Clerk could comply with the Charter and State <br />Statute requirements. The Clerk has prepared Resolution No. <br />05 - 88 setting April 26, 1988 as the election date. In <br />addition she has prepared a memorandum outlining the <br />information from the State Auditor's office regarding <br />special elections and a proposed time table for this special <br />election. <br />Mr. Bohjanen asked if the Council made a decision to set an <br />election on Monday, February 22nd would this be enough time. <br />Mayor Benson said it would delay the publication and set the <br />date of the election forwarded to May 3, 1988. Mayor Benson <br />said he did not think that Mr. Bisel would object to setting <br />the election date during his absence. <br />Mr. Reinert moved to adopt Resolution No. 05 - 88. Mr. <br />Bohjanen seconded the motion. Mrs. Anderson read the <br />Resolution. Voting on the motion, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Benson noted that all three newspaper were notified of <br />this Special Meeting and a notice was posted as required by <br />State Statutes. <br />Mr. Reinert moved to adjourn at 6:15 P.M.
