PUBLICLY- ACCESSIBLE COMMONS <br />Minimum Area. Each Residential District must include a minimum acreage of Publicly- Accessible <br />Commons equal to 10 percent of the District land area. The Commons are a landscaped gathering <br />area similar to a park or open space and may be public or privately owned but must be accessible <br />to the general public. No more than 5,000 square feet may be met by a private community <br />recreation facility structure such as a pool or clubhouse. <br />Housing around Commons. Publicly- Accessible Commons must be surrounded by homes on at <br />least two- thirds of their perimeter, in order to provide activity and informal surveillance. The <br />surrounding homes must face onto the Commons. The remainder, if any, must be adjacent to the <br />Natural Resource Areas. In no case may a Common be located behind residential units, away <br />from public view and access. <br />
