STAFF ORIGNINATOR:
MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
VOTE REQUIRED:
BACKGROUND:
AGENDA ITEM 1B
Jean Viger, Deputy Clerk
February 9, 2004
Consider Approval of Resolution No. 04 -26,
Application for Temporary On -Sale Liquor License
for Lino Lakes Lions Club
Simple Majority (3/5 Vote)
The Lino Lakes Lions Club is conducting a fundraising prime rib dinner on Saturday, March 6,
2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Elm Street. The Lino Lakes Lions Club is requesting
approval of a 1 to 4 Day Temporary On -Sale Liquor License application. The license is
necessary to allow the Lions Club to mix and dispense liquor that will be served as part of the
dinner.
Applicants are required to submit an application to the city for approval at least 30 days prior to
the event. In this case, time does not allow and the Lions Club is requesting the 30 -day
requirement be waived. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Alcohol & Gambling
Enforcement Division will accept the application after city council approval, review it and upon
approval return it to the Lions Club in time for the event.
City policy requires a background investigation each time a permit or license application is
received. The Lino Lakes Police Department conducted an investigation on February 5, 2004 and
found no reason to deny the application.
A copy of the application and a copy of the certificate of liquor liability insurance are on file in
the city clerk's office.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve Resolution No. 04 -26, application for the 1 to 4 day temporary on -sale liquor
license.
2. Deny Resolution.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1 Approve Resolution No. 04 -26.
