AGENDA ITEM 1B
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jean Viger, Deputy Clerk
MEETING DATE: March 8, 2004
TOPIC:
Resolution 04 -35, Approving Premises Permit
Application, VFW Post 6583
VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote)
BACKGROUND:
The VFW Post 6583 is in the process of renewing its gambling license, which is due to
expire on April 30, 2004. The MN Gambling Control Board requires organizations to
notify the appropriate local authority at the time of application. According to Minnesota
Statute 349.213, Subd. 2, the gambling control board may not issue or renew a premises
permit unless the organization submits a resolution from the city council approving the
premises permit.
The Lino Lakes Police Department has conducted a background investigation of the
gambling manager and has found no reason to deny approval of the resolution.
A copy of the notification and a copy of the background investigation is on file in the
City Clerk's office.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve Resolution 04 -35
2. Deny Resolution 04 -35
RECOMMENDATION:
Option No. 1
