Studenski, City Engineer COUNCIL MEETING DATE: April 12, 2004 TOPIC: Resolution No. 04 -44, Accepting Bids and Awarding Construction Contract, 62nd Street Reconstruction VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required BACKGROUND: Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 10:00 a.m. on April 2, 2004. The results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. Contractor Amount of Bid Arnt Construction Co., Inc. $ 930,219.38 Central Landscaping, Inc. $ 936,304.39* F.M. Frattalone $ 954,475.11* Dresel Construction, Inc. $1,047,622.49 Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. $1,079,254.95 Three Rivers Construction $1,133,377.19 Engineer's Estimate $1,133,076.20 The low bid is approximately 18% under the Engineer's Estimate for this project. A copy of the complete bid tabulation is attached. There was an error in the total amount of bid by F.M. Frattalone. Their total bid amount increased and eliminated them as the low bidder. F.M. Frattalone has been notified of the error and is in agreement with the change in results. The substantial completion date for this project is September 15, 2004, with a final completion date of October 30, 2004. OPTIONS: 1. Return to staff for further review. 2. Adopt Resolution Number 04-44, Accepting Bids and Awarding a Construction Contract to Arnt Construction Co., Inc. for the 62 "d Street Reconstruction project. 3. Not adopt Resolution No 04 -44. RECOMMENDATION: Option No 2 - Staff recommends adoption of Resolution Number 04 -44.
