Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: May 10, 2004 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 04 - 60, Accepting Bids and Awarding A <br />Construction Contract, 2004 Street Seal Coat Project <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 10:30 a.m. on April 29, 2004. <br />The results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is <br />required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. <br />Contractor Amount of Bid <br />Allied Blacktop $ 63,163.80 <br />Pearson Bros., Inc $ 63,965.88 <br />Caldwell Asphalt Co., Inc. $ 86,190.18 <br />Engineer's Estimate $ 73,380.00 <br />The low bid is approximately 14% under the Engineer's Estimate for this project. <br />A copy of the complete bid tabulation is attached. <br />The final completion date for this project is August 30, 2004. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 04 - 60, Accepting Bids and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract to Allied Blacktop for the 2004 Street Seal Coat <br />project. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution Number 04 - 60 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 04 - 60 be adopted. <br />• <br />
