• <br />• <br />• <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO 04 -73 <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL BLUE HERON <br />DAYS PARADE AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY <br />FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS TO FACILITATE THIS EVENT <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Heron Days Community Festival Committee has approached the City <br />Council of Lino Lakes and requested approval to conduct a parade within the City; and <br />WHEREAS, a parade is a ceremonial display of community involvement and pride and various <br />businesses in the City have indicated a willingness to support and sponsor such an event; and <br />WHEREAS, a parade would be a free event and community activity for the families of Lino <br />Lakes; and <br />WHEREAS, the Blue Heron Days Community Festival Committee has selected Saturday, <br />August 21, 2004 at mid -day as the time for this parade and has submitted an application to the <br />City for this event; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposal calls for a parade which has a staging area in the SuperTarget <br />parking lot and travels northeasterly along Lake Drive, ending at James Street and which would <br />require a temporary road closure of a portion of Lake Drive, which is subject to approval by <br />Anoka County and its Board of Commissioners, and; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wants to ensure the safety and convenience of its residents and <br />ensure that proper safety, signage, and related issues are addressed to the satisfaction of Anoka <br />County; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes <br />hereby expresses support for the first annual "Blue Heron Days" parade and authorizes staff to <br />work with the festival committee members to facilitate this event, subject to approval of the <br />parade route by the Anoka County Highway Depaituient and the Anoka County Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this day of , 2004. <br />Ann Bar, City Clerk <br />erg <br />yor <br />
