169 <br />OUNCIL MEETING <br />AUGUST 8, 1988 <br />e vacancies in the specified time period so therefore the <br />ouncil elected nine persons. There are still two vacancies <br />for which Mr. Hanson has submitted the two names to the <br />judge. Mr. Hawkins has told the judge that he feels the <br />City should still have a voice in the selection of the final <br />two members and the judge has agreed to accept four <br />nominees, two from Mr. Hanson and two from the City Council.. <br />Mr. Hanson was in the audience and told the Council that he <br />was unaware that the Council would be voting for Charter <br />Commission members and would have been at that meeting. <br />Mayor Benson noted that he was contacted by Mrs. Koppy who <br />requested that her name be dropped from the list of <br />candidates. <br />The Council voted for a member for a one year term and a <br />member for a four year term. Mr. Tom Molin was elected to <br />the one year term and Mr. Gordon Girtz and Mr. David <br />Storberg tied for the four year term. The Council proceeded <br />with a runoff election and Mr. Girtz was elected to the four <br />year term. <br />NSIDERATION OF AUDITORS RECOMMENDATION ON COMPUTER, <br />FTWARE AND AUTHORIZATION TO RECEIVE BIDS ON HARDWARE <br />. Schumacher explained that he has spent a great deal of <br />time looking at software for the City and Mr. Bisel has <br />assisted in investigating what hardware is available. He <br />has received two proposals for software and has asked the <br />City Auditor to review them and make a recommendation as to <br />what is needed to serve the City. Chief Campbell is also <br />looking at what is needed to service the Police Department <br />and this has not been incorporated in the current proposals. <br />Mr. Schumacher will prepare another presentation for the <br />Council that will include the needs of the Police Department <br />and bring this to the Council for their consideration. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Fire Commission Position on District Fire Stations - The <br />City has received a letter from the Centennial Fire District <br />outlining their position regarding the location of fire <br />stations within the fire district. The letter also outlines <br />which city the station benefits and how costs would be <br />allocated as outlined in the Joint Powers Agreement. Mr. <br />.11 Bruen, Chairman of the Fire Commission displayed a map <br />GE 16 <br />
