COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 22, 1988 Council wants Section 11 of the Police Contract changed. Mr. Schumacher has prepared a memorandum to the Council dated August 17, 1988 indicating the new wording could read "Officer in charge use his judgement as to what call takes - precident ". The Council felt that in reality this is what happens currently. Mayor Benson said he would be interested to know how many times this has occurred in the past. Mr. Reinert moved to reword the contract to read, "professional discretion of the officer ". Mr. Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Block Party Request, Lois Lane - Mr. and Mrs. Gary Shipman were in the audience to answer any questions the Council has on this matter. Mr. Reinert moved to grant the Block Party request for Lois Lane provided that the proper forms be completed. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Benson explained that access for emergency vehicles must be maintained. Mr. Bisel supported this event and said it is a good way to get acquainted with your neighbors. Gambling License Request, Rice Lake Trails Association - Mr. Bisel explained he would like to place a moratorium on all such requests until the new ordinance is in place. Mr. Hawkins said that the City did not have an ordinance and therefore the Council could not take such action. The Council took no action on this matter. Mayor Benson noted that the Centerville and Peltier Lake Associations will be meeting at city hall on August 30, 1988. A special council meeting was set for 8:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 25, 1988. A followup from Mr. Volk was requested on waste abatement. Mr. Bohjanen moved to adjourn at 12:08 A.M. Mr. Neal seconded the motion. Aye.
