COUNCIL WORK SESSION MAY 22, 1989 <br />The Council recently received a cash flow comparison produced <br />on the computer. Within the next thirty (30) to forty five <br />(45) days Mr. Schumacher will give the Council an update on <br />the 1989 Budget so that there will be no surprises at the end <br />of the year. <br />MUNICIPAL OFFICE AUTOMATION <br />Mr. Bisel told the Council that a member of the Planning and <br />Zoning Board audience was using a program on project <br />management. He suggested that this program may be useful for <br />Lino Lakes. <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that all staff have had the initial <br />computer training from Banyan Data Systems. Mrs. Romocky has <br />had additional training in Lotus. He also noted a program <br />used in several communities where the employer finances the <br />purchase of a computer for the employees personal use. The <br />cost of the computer is deducted from the employees paycheck <br />in equal installments. Mr. Bisel said that this was <br />happening at the school as well. This program encourages the <br />employee to use the computer at home with the idea that the <br />employee will become more proficient in using the computer. <br />PUBLIC RELATIONS <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that he has continued his program of <br />meeting with local businessmen on a one to one basis. Mr. <br />Reinert asked that Mr. Schumacher prepare a report on this <br />program for the Council. <br />The newsletter will be published quarterly starting with the <br />summer quarter. Mayor Benson asked if the Council will have <br />some :input. Mr. Schumacher explained that Cathy Wyland is <br />producing the newsletter and he would let her know that the <br />Council will provide input from time to time. <br />The City of Lino Lakes is now with the Anoka Chamber of <br />Commerce and Mr. Tesch attends these meetings. <br />CABLE TV <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that taping of city meetings will <br />begin with the Park Board meeting on June 5, 1989. The <br />Council meetings will be taped starting the fourth quarter of <br />1989. <br />ISSUES <br />Mr. Schumacher listed several issues that are currently being <br />addressed by him and /or the staff: <br />- Charter Amendment Issue <br />- Shoreview Water Main Hookup <br />
