PLANNING WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE A HIGH PRIORITY FOR LAND <br />WHEN FUTURE DEVELOPMENT IS PLANNED <br />PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT CHALLENGE FACING THE CITY IS THE <br />NEED TO REDUCE OUR HIGH TAXES AND IMPROVE OUR TAX BASE. AT <br />THE PRESENT TIME WE HAVE VERY LIMITED COMMERCIAL AND <br />INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY. CONSEQUENTLY THE BURDEN OF <br />PROVIDING CITY SERVICES AND EDUCATION FOR OUR YOUTH FALLS ON <br />THE BACKS OF THE HOMEOWNER. THE CITY COUNCIL AND ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE HAVE BEEN WORKING DILIGENTLY TO <br />ATTRACT QUALITY RETAIL AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT TO OUR <br />CITY. BY BEING PROACTIVE ON THIS ISSUE, WE CAN BE SELECTIVE <br />AS TO THE TYPES OF BUSINESSES AND INDUSTRIES WE WANT IN LINO <br />LAKES, AND WE WILL BE ABLE TO SET CONSTRUCTION AND <br />LANDSCAPING STANDARDS ACCEPTABLE TO THE SURROUNDING AREA. <br />THE DEVELOPING OF A STRONG AND STABLE TAX BASE FOR THE CITY <br />IS LONG RANGE PLANNING AND WILL RECEIVE TOP CONSIDERATION IN <br />THE YEAR AHEAD. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL, DESIGN REVIEW BOARD, AND ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE WILL CONTINUE TO SEE THAT ALL <br />DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA IS CONSISTENT WITH OUR POLICIES, IS <br />WELL THOUGHT OUT, AND IS IN LINE WITH THE QUALITY THAT YOU <br />EXPECT. <br />THE ADDITION OF OVER TWELVE HUNDRED HOMES AND THE INCREASE <br />IN POPULATION IN THE PAST 10 YEARS HAS PUT PRESSURE ON OUR <br />FACILITIES WHICH HOUSE THE POLICE, FIRE, PUBLIC WORKS, AND <br />3 <br />
