COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 23, 1990
Member Neal asked why the power lines could not go straight
across Ash Street instead of running west along Ash Street
and the south. Mr. Miller said everyone would have to agree
to do this and this is why he would like to arrange a meeting
so that everyone could get together at one time.
Mr. Ostrom said the United Power is trying to put their best
foot forward. The current sight is the best sight. He noted
that to reroute the entire transmission line would create a
whole new set of problems that United Power cannot defend.
United Power is in a corner and realizes that we all have to
talk.
Mrs. Donlin said that the landowner to the south is willing
to negotiate an easement for the transmission line. She felt
the power company was "treading" on them because they could
not afford to defend themselves.
Mr. Jaye Caine explained that United Power and Anoka Electric
are not out to try and get anybody. Anoka Electric
Cooperative is a non - profit utility and must make service
available to White Bear Township.
Council Member Bohjanen moved to continue the public hearing
to May 29, 1990. Council Member Neal seconded the motion.
On a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Bisel directed the staff to work with United Power
Association to establish a forum in an attempt to reach an
agreement. The staff was directed to notify the Council of
dates of meetings established with United Power and the
residents.
ENGINEER'S REPORT
Resolution No. 15 - 90 Declaring Costs to be Assessed and
Preparation of Proposed Assessment for Sunrise Meadows and
Surrounding Areas, Darrell Schneider - Mr. Schneider
explained that costs for the improvement have been determined
based on the work session held with the Council about a month
ago.
