4 4 COUNCIL MEETING MAY 14, 1990 <br />The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes City Council was called <br />to order by Mayor Bisel at 7:00 F.M., Monday, May 14, 1990. <br />Council Members present: Bohjanen, Reinert, Kuether, Neal. <br />Council Members absent: none. City Attorney, Bill Hawkins; <br />Planner, John Miller; Engineer's, Dan Boxrud and Darrell <br />Schneider; Administrative Assistant, Dan Tesch; Public Works <br />Director, Don Volk; Administrator, Randy Schumacher and <br />Clerk - Treasurer Marilyn Anderson were also present. <br />CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Regular Council Meeting, April 23, 1920 - Council Member <br />Bohjanen moved to approve the minutes as presented. Council <br />Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF DISBURSEMENT <br />April 30, 1990 - Council Member Neal moved to approve these <br />disbursements as presented. Council Member Bohjanen seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />May 14, 1990 - Council Member Neal asked why the item for <br />Zarnoth Brush Works was listed in the Police Department <br />disbursements. Mrs. Anderson explained that this is a Public <br />Works Department expense. Council Member Neal moved to <br />approve these disbursements as presented. Council Member <br />Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Centennial Fire District - Council Member Neal moved to <br />approve these disbursements as presented. Council member <br />Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />OPEN MIKE <br />North Metro Mayor's Association, Joseph Strauss - Mr. <br />Strauss, Executive Director of North Metro Mayor's <br />Association explained that this organization is comprised of <br />eleven north metro area cities. This area encompasses more <br />people and receives fewer public and private dollars than the <br />areas south of the Twin Cities. He noted all the facilities <br />located south of the downtown areas and said that his <br />organization was addressing this issue and is organizing <br />efforts to get the fair share of both dollars and development <br />in the north metro area. The focus at this time is mostly <br />economic development and transportation. This organization <br />is attempting to influence decision makers in the public and <br />private sectors regarding both of these matter. <br />Mr. Strauss noted that the north metro area is the fastest <br />growing area in the entire State of Minnesota. He explained <br />that if the north-metro area does not shape its tax base at <br />this time, it will. become totally dependent upon residential <br />taxes. This organization is attempting to put pressure on <br />the legislature and lobby for matters of concern to the north <br />PAGE 1 <br />
