COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 10, 1990 <br />friends. They hope to provide these students with a place <br />they can walk to after school to congregate in a supervised <br />atmosphere. The committee does not plan to hold dances or <br />activities such as this. It will be a drop -in center. <br />Several other sources of funding were suggested to the <br />committee such as the McKnight Foundation and the United Way. <br />Council Member Bohjanen asked if the school district was <br />providing any funding. Ms. Roman said no, but they have <br />provided some services. <br />Mayor Bisel recommended that the Council send this request to <br />the Staff and let the Staff make a recommendation to the <br />Council during budgets work sessions. <br />Council Member Reinert moved to take the request and refer it <br />to the City Administrator who will make recommendations on it <br />as well as several other requests at budget time. There was <br />not a second to this motion. However, it was the consensus <br />of the Council that Council Member Reinert's motion be <br />carried forward. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - REZONE I35E CORRIDOR FROM RURAL (R) TO <br />RURAL- BUSINESS RESERVE (R -BR), ORDINANCE NO. 10 - 90, FIRST <br />READING <br />Mr. Miller explained that this is a house - keeping item. Last <br />spring the Council approved an ordinance creating the R -BR <br />district and approved the concept of rezoning approximately <br />1,200 acres of land adjacent to I35E to that zoning district. <br />Adoption of Ordinance No. 10 - 90 would create the R -BR zone. <br />Mayor Bisel opened the public hearing at 7:45 P.M. He asked <br />if there was anyone in the audience to speak for or against - <br />the proposed rezone. There was no one to speak for or <br />against the rezone. Council Member Bohjanen moved to close <br />the public hearing at 7:46 P.M. Council Member Neal seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Council Member Bohjanen moved to approve the first reading of <br />Ordinance No. 10 - 90 and to include everything that had been <br />discussed with the residents and dispense with the reading. <br />Council Member Reinert seconded the motion.
