• <br />AGENDA ITEM 7A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 24, 2003 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 03 -27 Accepting Bid and <br />awarding contract for the Black Duck Lift <br />Station <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City Council approved the plans and specification and authorized staff to advertise <br />for bids to reconstruct the Black Duck Lift Station at the January 13, 2003 City Council <br />meeting. Bids were opened on February ,13, 2003 for the project. The Engineers <br />estimated construction cost was $321,500.00. <br />Five bids were received for the project as follows: <br />Bidder Amount <br />Northdale Construction <br />Magney Construction <br />Barbarossa & Sons <br />Lametti & Sons <br />Jay Brothers <br />$289,920.01 <br />$333,582.00 <br />$361,845.00 <br />$377,000.00 <br />$404,869.90 <br />The low bid of $289,920.01 was received from Northdale Construction Co., Inc. The <br />bid amount is 9.8% under the engineers estimate and $78,579.99 under the low bid, <br />previously rejected in August of 2002. <br />The project is being funded from the City's Trunk Utility Area and Unit Fund. SEH, Inc., <br />the City's Engineering Consultant for the project is recommending award of the contract <br />to Northdale Construction Company, Inc., for the bid amount of $289,920.01. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Adopt Resolution Number 03 -27, Accepting Bids and Awarding Contract for the Black <br />Duck Lift Station project. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
