Council members present; Karth, Schneider,
Zelinka. Absent: McLean. Mr. Locher and Mr. Gotwald were also present.
Mayor Bohjanen said the purpose of this meeting is to discuss the surfacing of West
Shadow Lake Drive. He asked Mr. Gotwald to present the figures for this project.
Mr. Gotwald said the total costs for 2" of black topping is approximately $13,000.00,
with the laying of the necessary gravel plus some woek on the shoulders the total cost
should not exceed $20,000.00. He said there is approximately 3200' of roadway involved.
At $2.00 per front foot, this will cost the property owners $12,800.00 - the Anoka
County Park Department has committed $7,500.00 for this project. This should be ade-
quate to complete the work, however, if there are additional costs, the City will ass-
ume them.
Mr. Gotwald told the residents that it this was done by standard assessment procedures,
this work could cost as much as $18.00 per front foot.
Mr. Zelinka said the City is committing itself to maintain this street in the future.
Mayor Bohjanen siad the City will work with the County and the residents in order to
get a decent street at the lowest cost.
A resident questioned the width of the street and was told there would be a 24' driving
surface with a couple of feet for shoulders.
The general consensus of the residents present was they would participate in this pro-
ject. There was dicussion on how the money should be handled - Mr. Locher suggested
an escrow account - Mr. Zelinka suggested using Drovers State Bank and Mr. Kronholm
agreed to this.
If the residents have questions as to the amount of front footage on their particular
lot, they may call the City Hall for the figures.
Mr. Zelinka moved to accept the proposal that funs!sbe escrowed in Drovers State Bank
by September 30, 1977. Seconded by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Zelinka moved to authorize Mr. Gotwald and Mr. Karth to accept the low bid and to
start the work on the Street. Seconded by Mr. Scheider. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Gotwald was questioned as to engineering costs and replied that the only costs would
be for inspections.
