January 4, 1978
Deputy AssesQr Margie Roisum
Fi're Marshall .7-Richard Hauer
C.D. Director - Charles Cape
Auditor Anfinson & Hendrickson
Animal Control - this will discussed at the January 9, 1978 meeting
Bonding Consultant - Springsted, Inc
Bank Depository - Centennial State Bank
Municipal Health Department - Anoka Couty Health Department
Mr. Schneider said the only question he had was in connection with the Building
Inspector. He has had a lot of comments this past year, however, he did feel that
Mr. Mobley adheres to the State Building Code and this is on the plus side. Mr.
Schneider felt that some imporvement in public realtions needs to be made in the
coming year.
Mayor Karth felt a lot of the comments were because there is an inspector ens
forcing the law and the fact there is much more activity in the City.
Mr. McLean said he had had some calls. He felt that due to the changes in the City
there will be controversy. He felt there must be someone who will enforce the State
Building Code.
Mr. McLean moved to approve the appointments. Seconded by Mr. Schneider. Motion
carried unanimously.
Mr. McLean moved to approve 'The Forest Lake Times' as the official City newspaper.
Seconded by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. McLean moved to table the animal control contract until the January 9, 1978
meeting. Seconded by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried unanimously.
Towing contracts had been submitted by Al's Towing and Gene's Towing. Mr.
Schneider felt that all things being equal, he would lean toward Al's Towing, since
he was the first to suggest such a contract. Although, in checking the contracts.
it would appear that Gene's Towing cost less.
Chief Myhre was asked if he had a preference and he said he and no problems with
either firm. Al, from Alts Towing, said the rates for the City are variable;
Police ordered tows are paid by the vehicle owner.
Mr. Kulaszewicz and Mr. Schnieder had had an inquiry fro Keith Apitz but no
information had been presented at the office.
Mr. Schneider felt this could be handled on an alternating basis. Mr. Kulaszewicz
asked about storage. He was told that Al's uses the building at 6943 Lake Drive
and Gene's Towing uses the Skyline Auto Body facilities. Both are fenced and have
heated buildings.
Mr. Schneider moved to award the exclusive contract to Al's Towing for 1978, with
consideration for the 1979 contract being awarded to Gene's Towing, provided all
things are equal. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Locher reported he had checked the Blaine All Pets Contract and had talked to
the owner. It was felt the "24 hours notification to animal owner's" could be
included in the contract.
Mr. McLean asked Chief Myhre if he had any comments on that facility and he said,
No.
