The larger width of the lots will <br />encourage larger garages. <br />Council Member Kuether asked where the name Stage Coach Drive <br />came from. Mr. Menkveld explained that at the turn of the <br />century a waystation for stage coach traffic was located on the <br />site. The name was used for historical value but noted that the <br />street name could be changed. <br />There was no one else to speak regarding this matter. <br />Mr. Schneider noted that the park board has reviewed this plat <br />and all members were polled regarding the latest design of the <br />park. The Park Board is requiring that five (5) acres plus cash <br />be dedicated from the plat. He also noted that the planned park <br />is located so that when the property to the south develops, <br />additional park land can be added to the established park. Mr. <br />Schumacher explained that the necessary agreements will be <br />completed after the preliminary plat is approved. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to close the public hearing at 7:48 <br />P.M. Council Member Elliott seconded the motion. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to approve the first reading of <br />Ordinance No. 06 - 92 to rezone the Shores of Marshan Lake from <br />R -3 to R -1. Council Member Kuether seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, PRELIMINARY PLAT, SHORES OF MARSHAN LAKE <br />Mayor Reinert opened the public hearing at 8:50 P.M. <br />Mr. Schneider explained the information regarding this <br />preliminary plat was given during the above rezone public <br />hearing. Mayor Reinert asked about the price ranges of the homes <br />and Mr. Menkveld explained that the interior price range would be <br />$100,000.00 to $120,000.00 and the south east corner of the plat <br />would range from $120,000.00 to $160,000.00. The model will be <br />in excess of $100,000.00. <br />Mr. Richard Zelinka, 7033 Lakeview Drive explained that the site <br />once contained the building that was the stage coach waystation <br />on the stage coach route to Duluth. It was known as the Kettle <br />River Junction waystation. Mr. Zelinka noted that Anoka County <br />once asked that the site be dedicated for a historical site. <br />However, Anoka County would not reimburse the owner anything for <br />the site and the Circle Pines Fire Department used the building <br />for a fire drill.
