CITY COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 11, 1995 <br />CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. 95 - 108 ADOPTING THE PROPOSED <br />1995 TAX LEVY, COLLECTABLE 1996, RANDY SCHUMACHER <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that the Truth in Taxation legislation <br />requires the City to adopt a proposed 1995 levy on or before <br />September 15 of each year. Public hearings will be held to take <br />public input on the proposed levy. The City Council does have <br />the right to reduce the levy if the proposed budget is refined <br />and reduced. The City Council does not have the right to <br />increase the proposed levy. The proposed net levy is <br />$2,624,043.00. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to adopt Resolution No. 95 - 108 <br />setting the proposed 1995 levy, collectable 1996 as outlined in <br />the resolution. Council Member Kuether seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 95 - 108 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />CONSIDERATION OF A MOTION TO SET THE TRUTH IN TAXATION PUBLIC <br />HEARING DATES, DECEMBER 7, 1995, 6:30 P.M. AND THE RECONVENING OF <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING FOR DECEMBER 14, 1995, 6:30 P.M., RANDY <br />SCHUMACHER <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that all government entities are <br />required to hold Truth in Taxation hearings to receive public <br />input on the proposed budget and levy. At the hearing, a <br />presentation will be made outlining what is being proposed for <br />department budgets and what is proposed for property taxes for <br />the coming year. <br />Mr. Schumacher recommended that the hearing dates be set as <br />outlined above. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to set the public hearings as <br />proposed by Mr. Schumacher. Council Member Kuether seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Council Member Kuether suggested that the Council work session be <br />moved to December 7, 1995 instead of December 6, 1995. This <br />request will be reviewed in November. <br />CONSIDERATION OF A MOTION TO ADOPT THE FINAL 1995 LEVY <br />COLLECTABLE, 1996 AND THE 1996 OPERATING BUDGET AT THE DECEMBER <br />18, 1995 CITY COUNCIL MEETING, RANDY SCHUMACHER <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that earlier the City Council set <br />December 18, 1995 as the final Council meeting of the year.
