He
had received her letter the day after the last regular meeting; all Council
members had been called and it was decided that an ad for a new Deputy Clerk
would be in the paper this week. Applications are to be in by January second.
Mr. Jaworski passed around the graphs prepared by the Personnel Commission showing
the various salaries in view of the importance of the jobs. Previously the Council
had approved the wages for the Clerk- Treasurer and Deputy Clerk at $300 /month and
$2.60 per hour respectively. The Personnel Commission had felt that the Clerk -
Treasurer held the most important job in the Village, since the type and amount of
work including the care of the minutes and the books, the budget, etc. were essential
to the running of the Village. They had thought the Road Foreman and the Deputy
Clerk were about the same in importance directly under the Clerk. Laborers and the
Weed Inspector were next down the scale. W. Jaworski stated that the Personnel
Commission had felt that the wages be first placed in their proper perspective and
then that merit raises or rather cost of living increases be given on a percentage
basis after that. Mr. Cardinal felt that the merit raises should be on a yearly
basis.
