2 b 12/28/70
items to work on. Mr. Bohjanen felt we should license all businesses in our own com-
munity; Mr. L'Allier noted that we now license people like plumbers who come into the
Village to work. Since the committee was not ready to report, Mr. L'Allier suggested
tat the matter be postponed until after January.
Mr. Locher reported that he had talked with James Ray on the insurance question of
employees being covered while using their private Vehicles for Village work. W. Ray felt
that we should require each person to supply a certificate of this type coverage from
their own company. Mr. Locher felt that the Village is covered but questioned whether
the individual was covered under the matter of prime or secondary insurance. There was
some discussion. It was felt that if we could get no definite answer on whether such
individuals are covered by the Village while on Village business using their own Vehicles
then we should look for other insurance. Mr. Locher noted that few companies care to
handle municipal insurance because of the high vandalism costs.
Mr. James Hart offered more comments on the Savin Photocopier. He stated that the price
would be $1,250,on the Model 220 until the first of January. He commented that the AB
Dick model 675 was the same machine, made by a third party and sold by the two companies
with a royalty agreement. W. Hart stated that the new GSA price after the First would
be $1325; he made several remarks on leasing the machine, etc. At the end of the lease
period we could purchase the machine for 1% of the original cost. A maintenance contract
would cost $120 per year. The machine would have about a 30% trade in value after a lease
period of 48 or 60 months. The Council considered the lease figures and felt that they
would rather purchase it outright. Mr. Hart noted that if we used a different type paper,
he could not guarantee that the machine would make perfect copies at the end of 5 years.
After considerable discussion, Mr. Rosengren moved to authorize the purchase of this
basic copy machine, with the final decision to be based on the two bids from Savin
and A B Dick, and a comparison of all the factors, on a 90 -day basis or longer if
possible, considering also the guarantees and service. The Clek will check with the
Attorney to clarify the bids. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Carried unanimously. A
maintenance contract may be purchased after 90 days.
Mr. Bohjanen moved to pay the bills as audited, including the bill for the flagpole rope.
Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. Carried inanimously.
Mr. L'Allier stated that he would check tomorrow with the Clek on the number of hours she
will work next year, being governed by the budget. He felt that the hour on Tuesday
evening could be eliminated if we went to a six -hour day, and that the Clek's home number
should be left off the information guide. He stated that the Clerk had volunteered to get
a babysitter for her daughter so there would be no complications in that respect.
Mr.,Myhre asked for an extension phone in the .police office in the new Hall at a cost of
$1.50 per month. The Clerk was instructed to order same. It was, agreed that it would
be unnecessary to have a phone in the Council chambers.
There was discussion On the lights in the Council chambers; Mr. Rosengren noted that four
additional lights had been put in.
Mr. Jaworski moved to adjourn at 10:44 P.M. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. After some dis-
cussion it was decided that the Council members would meet Wednesday evening to move things.
The motion carried unanimously.
Minutes approved at the eeting of January 11, 1971.
Clerk - Treasurer
