1 <br />CLOSED COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNCIL MINUTES <br />6/- /4 <br />JUNE 8, 1992 <br />DATE : June 80.1.992 <br />TIME STARTED 6:00 P.M. <br />TIME ENDED 7:15 P.M. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Reinert, Neal, <br />MEMBERS ABSENT None <br />Kuether, <br />Elliott, <br />Bergeson <br />Staff members present: City Attorney, Bill Hawkins; Consulting <br />Planner, Al Brixius; City Engineer, Darrell Schneider; Consulting <br />City Engineer, Dan Boxrud; City Administrator, Randy Schumacher <br />and Assistant to the City Administrator, Dan Tesch. <br />The purpose of the meeting was to explain that a settlement <br />hearing was held on Friday, May 29, 1992 with the League of <br />Minnesota Attorney, Tom Radio and Mr. Birch and his attorney <br />Fritz Knaack. <br />Mr. Brixius said that a new proposal was introduced during this <br />hearing that Mr. Birch hopes the City Council will consider for <br />his Amelia Lake project. Mr. Birch is proposing to increase the <br />density for this area by introducing 254 four (4) and eight (8) <br />unit town homes valued at $90,000.00 to $120,000.00. The value <br />is down from the original proposal of $180,000.00 to $200,000.00 <br />per town home. <br />Mr. Brixius continued that in exchange for the greater density, <br />Mr. Birch would dedicate 300 feet around Lake Amelia as green <br />space. This space would equal roughly 15 acres. Mr. Birch hopes <br />that this green space will satisfy the neighbors. <br />Mr. Schumacher informed the City Council that staff members met <br />this afternoon at 4:00 P.M. to discuss the new proposal. <br />However, staff has not had enough time to analyze the numbers <br />carefully. <br />The City Council was concerned about the increased density as <br />well as the value of the units. <br />Staff was directed to study the proposal further and report back <br />PAGE 1 <br />
