The area surrounding contains an
Indian reservation, the Jackpot Junction casino, several large
motels and a home manufacturing company. That makes for many
problems with juveniles, casino related calls, domestics, assault,
and parties in the motels. The community is constantly trying to
control the liquor sales. All of this gives a need for a larger
force than other cities of 5,000 people.
Council Member Bergeson asked Mr. Hutson his approach to problem
solving.
Mr. Hutson said he would first determine if there is a problem -
this may be an opportunity to change something. He would stay
informed to keep a small problem from becoming larger these
things never go away. Decision making requires getting all of the
information you can.
