CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Public Safety Director John Swenson <br />MEETING DATE: December 29, 2014 <br />TOPIC: Hire Paid On -Call Firefighters <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting council approval to hire paid on-call <br />firefighters. <br />BACKGROUND <br />As directed by Council Resolution 14-50 staff is integrating fire operations into the Public <br />Safety Department. Staff has been engaged in a fire recruiting effort and on January 5, 2015 <br />will start the second group of firefighters in fire training at Century College. This second group <br />of firefighters will be members of the paid on-call fire contingent. <br />The hiring process has been extensive including an interview process, background <br />investigation, medical and psychological examinations, and drug screen. This process has <br />identified candidates that will continue the Public Safety Department's proud tradition of <br />delivering high quality services to the Lino Lakes Community. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the hiring of paid on-call fire personnel listed below <br />effective January 5, 2015. <br />Jason Clampitt <br />Jonas Werpy <br />Paul Kartman <br />Brian Finke <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
